A few from my portfolio.

This is a final piece of work from a typographical project where I had to make a image using only letters to show how images can be put across using type. I chose to do a Marilyn Monroe picture which I did using warp in photoshop to create the different shapes to fit the image. The words I decided to use in this were simply Marilyn Monroe and I also added a bit of colour to the lips to draw attention to the image.

This project was a live brief for the Performing Arts department where I had to design a poster for any of the four plays they were showing. I went for a simple but bold approach using photography for the main image. I used a photograph of my hand, using the threshold effect to make the image sharper which symbolises the witch coming to grab Hansel & Gretel and it also looks like someone is trapped between the empty space in the hand.

This is an observational drawing of a sheeps skull. I used contrast between the positive and negative space to create a stronger visual impact. I also used mark makings to show the shadowing of the skull.
Here is a sheet from my Idioms project. For this I had to create a solution to the sentence I chose. This is the final outcome to my Journeys project where I came up with a theme of aging but instead of going for the typical aging of a person I decided to go through the aging process of a flower. I drew the flowers using fineliner then using photoshop added colour.

This was a project experimenting with watercolour. I started off with a photograph of a lily then I filled the page with watercolour and finally drew on the lily with fineliner using the colours on the page as guidelines.

This is another live brief I did, again designing a poster for a play this time being Doctor Faustus. As the story is old and has a victorian freak show feel to it I decided to draw from an image using ink and applied it with a stick to create rough lines and bold areas of ink.

This is a collagraph print I did using different colours of printing ink layered over eachother then put through the printer it made a varity of bold colours

This is my book in a box project, I started off by choosing a theme and collecting old photos to draw figures from. I then made cut outs filling each figure with different surfaces I made using various kinds of media. Finally I layed out all the figures to make a scene within the box.

Here are my continuous line drawings for an urban project I did drawing buildings and monuments around the country using fine liner.

Using my drawings shown above I went on to create a final outcome using roughly cut pieces of coloured paper. I then put my drawings onto acetape and layed them over the paper and finally I made a trail of words linking each building together.

Here is my Penguin book cover I designed for the story Alice's Adventures In Wonderland. For this cover I didn't use any imagery and just stuck to type alone. To make the cover that much more interesting I came up with the idea of colouring the first letter of each word so that readers would understand the composition of the lettering.
